Good as new: Billy thought placing the new umbrella in a cinder block would Work fine. It did until a mere 5 mph wind came along and whipped it 30 ft across the lawn and homogenized one of the spokes. But with some Goop, a piece of aluminum angle and some black duct tape, you be hard pressed to tell it had been repaired. The coolest part of this afternoon’s job was that we were kept company for about an hour by a rabbit who sat only 10 ft away. —BP
